For families seeking a traditional burial, we offer grave spaces at both of our cemetery locations.

Grave Spaces at Pleasant View & Shawnee Cemeteries

All grave spaces are sold through the Shawnee Parks and Recreation Department at the Shawnee Civic Centre, 13817 Johnson Drive.

  • Pricing
    Infant Grave Space: $400
    Adult Grave Space: $1,500

  • Repurchase by the City
    Grave spaces or lots repurchased by the City will be reimbursed at 100% of the original price paid, with an administrative deduction of thirty-five dollars ($35).

  • Statement of Purchase
    Upon acquiring a grave space, individuals will be provided with a statement specifying the details and location of the purchased grave.

  • Sell or Transfer
    In the event that a grave space or lot owner wishes to sell or transfer ownership, they should initiate the process by submitting a letter to the Parks and Recreation Director at the City of Shawnee. Upon completion, the Director will provide a statement reflecting the change to the new owner or transferee. A fee of $35 will be required for the issuance of the new certificate.

Columbarium Niche Pricing & Information

Repurchase by the City
Niches repurchased by the City will be reimbursed at 100% of the original price paid, with an administrative deduction of thirty-five dollars ($35).

Statement of Purchase
Upon acquiring a grave space, individuals will be provided with a statement specifying the details and location of the purchased grave.

  • Columbarium Niche Level A (bottom): $2,200
  • Columbarium Niche Level B and E: $2,450
  • Columbarium Niche Level C and D: $2,600
  • Columbarium Niche Level F (top): $2,300

  • Standard Niche Engraving: $325; Additional lettering is $8 per letter.

All niches are 12 inches by 12 inches and can hold up to two urns.

Sell or Transfer
In the event that a niche owner wishes to sell or transfer ownership, they should initiate the process by submitting a letter to the Parks and Recreation Director at the City of Shawnee. Upon completion, the Director will provide a statement reflecting the change to the new owner or transferee. A fee of $35 will be required for the issuance of the new certificate.

Burial Permits

Before the burial permit is issued, the City Parks and Recreation Director will collect the following interment fees, covering the operation of opening and closing the grave/niche:

  • Infant Grave Opening/Closing: $400
  • Adult Grave Opening/Closing: $1,000
  • Cremation Grave Opening/Closing: $650
  • Columbarium Opening/Closing: $150

Opening/closing is available Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 4 pm. An additional fee of $400 will be incurred for interments, disinterment, cremations, or services scheduled to commence later than 4 pm or before 9 am.

Double deep and oversize graves will also incur an additional $200 fee.

Burial Permit Record

The Parks and Recreation Department will maintain a record of permits issued, detailing the issuance date, recipient, pertinent information, lot number, grave number, and block number.
